March 24, 2021 Update: Last night, Mr. Chaplin and Mr. Scanlon updated the DCRSD school committee regarding this project’s progress. They explained the baseball and softball infields have been excavated, and new infield mix was delivered yesterday. They plan for the new material to be spread and graded over the next couple weeks. SH Boosters donated the funds to purchase the new materials.

Mr. Chaplin also mentioned operating budget money will be used to install new softball dugouts and a new softball backstop.

Many thanks to Mr. Russ Jennings, a SHRHS alumni and owner of 508 International in Charlton, for his generous donation of his time and equipment to improve the HS baseball and softball fields. Also heartfelt thanks to all community members and business who donated or otherwise supported this endeavor.

We hope to get the Shepherd Hill infields renovations on baseball and softball fields complete this fall. Mr Chaplin will let us know when the work will occur. Thank you very much to all who have generously given of their time and donations to help achieve better fields at the high school.

Project Update:

The Fields Campaign has raised $8,675.00. Thank you to everyone who has supported this project. Together we are improving Shepherd Hill’s baseball and softball fields.

On March 10, 2020, the campaign volunteers voted to donate the balance (at that time: $7425.00) to the School Committee to be expended on renovating the infields of both the baseball and softball fields.

Since then school has been closed and spring sports cancelled. Rainy (5+ inches) April weather and Coronavirus postponed our infield renovations.

As soon as it’s safe, infield renovations to both fields will start.

Thank you again for your support and interest in fixing the SH fields.
