Some of our current repairs. These buildings are from the nineties and to get the logs to match we start with the original stain color and then build up layers on top using a blend we’ve made that will get them to match quite nicely. It takes a couple visits to the site to get them there but it’s worth it.

Often times windows are a huge issue in log homes. Improper installation can lead to water infiltration, heat loss, pests and other mechanical issues with the windows. This house had all of them. Windows were for the most part uninsulated and not shimmed so and only held in by face trim. With that we pulled the factory trim and shimmed windows, repaired as needed and insulated around them. This coupled with properly caulked new exterior trim will keep these windows working for many years.

Log siding can be just as problematic as full logs. It is usually easier to replace though.

Just wrapped up this project. We used western red cedar stair treads and eastern white cedar hand rails.
