Design tip from Eva: If you have certain plants that need extra coddling, plant them close to the house in places you will see them so that you will more easily be reminded to give them the extra care they require. This way too you are sure to get plenty of enjoyment out of them for all the energy you put into them.

As SJN's landscape designer I want to offer a design tip that applies to many folks: Do you have a lot going on in your garden but not enough harmony throughout your landscape? Try pairing down your plant palette. If you want to fill in an area, add more of something you already have that is doing well. If you want to decongest an area, remove a plant that there's only one or two of.
