A Personal Update from KCDC Designs

Over the past several weeks, many of you may have noticed that I've been a little quieter on social media than usual. Some have even reached out to check on me, and for that, I'm truly grateful.

As much as I love what I do and value every customer, student, follower, and friend who supports KCDC Designs, family has needed to come first recently.

My mother has been facing some serious health challenges, and much of my time and attention has been devoted to being with her and helping navigate difficult decisions alongside my family. While KCDC Designs remains important to me, there are moments in life when family simply takes priority.

I want to sincerely thank my customers, students, friends, and followers for your patience, understanding, support, prayers, messages, and encouragement during this time. Your kindness has meant more than you know.

Please know that KCDC Designs is still here, projects are continuing to move forward, and I remain committed to providing the same quality, craftsmanship, and service you've come to expect. Some things may take a little longer than usual, but I promise I'm doing my best to balance both family responsibilities and business commitments.

Life has a way of reminding us what matters most, and right now I'm cherishing every moment I can with the people I love.

Install complete, and just in time for class starting tomorrow morning!

Simple, clean, and built to fit the space exactly how it was envisioned.

The customer will be adding LED lighting to the recessed area of the accent piece in front, and I will add photos when they get that done.

It always starts with the customer's vision, then it's our job to bring it to life!

Sometimes the customer sees the vision… before we ever can.

And this… is where it ended up.

I remember getting the call for this project.
She was outside my normal travel range… but once she started describing her vision, I was so intrigued,,, I wanted in.

This wasn’t about mimicking natural stone.
This was bold. Different. Completely her.

After a few sample boards, she said:
“That’s it—that’s what I want.”

And we went for it.

At install, I knew I had done my job—
I brought her vision to life… at least for the countertops.

But I’ll be honest… standing in that basement at the time, I couldn’t fully see where it was all going.

Then yesterday… she sent these photos.

And wow.

She didn’t just have a vision for countertops—she had a vision for the entire space.

A full speakeasy. Moody. Bold. Completely dialed in.

This won’t be everyone’s style… and it’s not supposed to be.

This was her vision.

And seeing it all come together like this?

I’m honestly blown away.

This is why I say:

It felt like stepping into a whole different world just seeing these photos. I can only imagine being there in person (I'm invited to the open house 😁).
Almost like a modern-day speakeasy brought to life.

This made my day.

These messages came from a former student who had NEVER worked with epoxy before taking our class.

Messages like this are exactly why I do hands-on training.

It’s not just about pouring epoxy… it’s about understanding the process, building confidence, and getting real-world results.

L:ast class before summer scheduling gets busy!

Life update—because I’ve always believed in being real, both personally and in business.

The past few weeks have been focused on family.
My dad is in hospice care, and my mom is starting rehab after a her hospital stay.

I’ve been spending as much time with them as I can.

Because of that, I’ve also had to make a few tough business decisions—including stepping back from a recent project. Not because I couldn’t do it, but because I didn’t want to risk missing a deadline and putting someone else in a bad position.

That’s something I won’t compromise on.

If anything, this season has reinforced what matters most to me:
➡️ Doing things the right way
➡️ Being honest—even when it’s not easy
➡️ Taking care of people first

I truly appreciate everyone’s support, patience, and understanding during this time and I'll soon be back in full force!
