We received a customer call worried about their apple trees growing “cotton candy” on its limbs. Not to worry! Fall web worm or eastern tent caterpillar do not normally kill trees, however treating them early by pruning and burning the branches or using pedticides is best to rid the infestation from spreading! Trees are now pretty much through their photosynthesis cycle so fall infestations do not generally hurt the tree.
