Some driveways (and parking lots) need much more than just sealcoating. In fact, sealcoating alone does very little to "seal" the driveway. Think of it as a kind of sunscreen. Cracks are the real asphalt killer.

Due to the amount work we've got coming in already this season, Safeguard Asphalt Maintenance is looking for an insured, local powerwashing company to contract on the dirty driveways and parking lots we often come across.

Must be able to accommodate large jobs with the right equipment and skill to properly remove minerals, oils, mud, dirt, moss and algae.

At this time, we are only looking for registered LLCs with appropriate liability coverage and excellent customer service.

We hate to post stores like these but let this homeowner's mistake be a lesson to you all. This is long but worth the read.

We met a gentleman at the Lansing Home Show last weekend who asked us to look at his new asphalt driveway. He said it was installed last fall, but had some concerns about the quality of the install.

We arrived today and he showed us what you see in the photos below.

Pictured is one spot on a massive asphalt driveway where the actual pavement is approximately 1/8" thick! Yes, that's gravel underneath.

This homeowner paid for a complete removal and repave with 3" of asphalt.

Tens of thousands of dollars this disabled retiree paid this company.

He did what he thought he was supposed to do....went to Angie's List and a guy showed up from an eastern Michigan based company. When the homeowner called to have them take a look, the guy says, "Hey man, we gave you a nice looking driveway." So now he has to seek legal action and probably won't see a dime.

Please let this be a lesson to you all. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. Quality asphalt companies almost never have next week appointments. There is no such thing as, "I've got extra asphalt/sealer/etc."

Get multiple quotes. Hire local, quality contractors, read the fine print.

Sometimes the final product doesn't look like an amazing transformation. For this driveway, it was function over form.

This asphalt had a lot of alligator cracking that will ultimately need to be cut out and replaced due to collapsed substrate.

This customer chose to repair this driveway in phases over the next couple of years. This was phase 1: Seal the driveway to prevent further deterioration. We combined mastic alligator crack repair, large crack repair with Aquaphalt synthetic asphalt, hot rubber, and sealant.

What is showcased here is our Gatoraid mastic alligator crack repair. This product is truly incredible. When cured, it can provide structural support and adhesion to even the most damaged asphalt; binding all of the loose pieces together like gluing a jigsaw puzzle.
