Access to sand piles and fillable bags at our self-service distribution site on the grass field located south of the stadium remains open 24 hours a day until further notice. Limit 15 bags per resident; please bring a shovel and proof of residency.
Closures
Non-emergency city offices and public facilities will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8.
The City Commission regular meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Historic Preservation Commission regular meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 have been canceled.
Preparation Activities
Stormwater pumps, generators, high-water rescue vehicles, and other heavy equipment are being staged throughout the city to provide rapid response if needed.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, prepare for flooding, and have enough non-perishable food, water, and medicine for at least 72 hours.
Mayor Fred Cleveland has declared a state of emergency in New Smyrna Beach to allow for work without adherence to regular procedures and invoke emergency related mutual-aid assistance. The declaration echoes Executive Order No. 24-214 signed by Governor Ron DeSantis on Oct. 5, and is available for review at https://tinyurl.com/35y85hw7
