Hello Friends. Just a brief note to let you know that out of an abundance of caution, Facebook has notified me that the event that was scheduled for 2019 has been cancelled. Yes, 2019.

But in fact, we did hold that event and had a wonderful time painting at Edisto. The spring 2020 art retreat was never planned due to family issues that were a priority; however, I am hopeful that a fall event or two will work out. More later.... In the meantime, try to make time to exercise your art - whatever it is. Sing, Dance, Paint, Draw, Sculpt, Mime, Write, Strum or anything else that brings you peace and helps you to focus on something healthy.

I'm planning a change in the way that I manage social media for the new year because I need to simplify and streamline. I need more time for the things that are important to me, like eating and sleeping. Oh, and drawing and painting and spending quality time with family. Pulling weeds -- you get it.

I'll be migrating Edisto Art Retreats to Stemkowski Studios on all platforms. On the Stemkowski Studios website, workshops, retreats and guest artist info will be a menu item. Stemkowski Studios will also publish Edisto Art Retreats info on Instagram and Facebook. This way you may see posts twice instead of 5 times.

If you'd like to keep up with offerings from Edisto Art Retreats, I hope you'll connect with the Stemkowski Studios Instagram, page and/or website.

And one more thing, but most important, I hope you'll all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am so grateful for my art journey and that I can share it with you.

Had the great good fortune today to go to Charleston’s City Gallery this afternoon to see Mary Whyte’s work: We The People. This is the most powerful and emotional exhibit I’ve ever seen. The artist was there and graciously took Nicholas and me on a mini-tour, explaining to us the stories of some of the veterans who were her subjects. If you have a chance and you’re in Charleston, treat yourself to this. I promise you’ll come away moved in some way. You’ll also be scratching your head and saying, “She did all that with watercolor???” Yes. She did.
