🚨EMERGENCY UPDATE🚨

Around 4:40 AM yesterday morning, Echo somehow managed to pull off a complete disappearing act. After nearly 15 hours of searching and a LOT of panic, our little escape artist was finally discovered around 7:30 PM… sitting on top of the mini fridge across the bedroom. 🙃

He is officially back in custody, no signs of physical injuries, and most importantly was discovered sooner rather than later to ensure good health! 🦎💚 Apparently, Echo simply felt like exploring his surroundings and taking his name a little too seriously. He is now residing in an even smaller enclosure (jail) for the time being until we can do some touch-ups and make absolutely sure this little escape doesn’t happen again. 😭😂 he has officially been given the nickname Houdini because of this. I swear he is meant to give me a heart attack!

Did you know that Roman and Greek mythologies are deeply woven together? Before Rome encountered Greek culture, the Romans already had their own religions, beliefs, and deities. However, as Greek culture became more influential, many Greek gods were adopted and adapted into Roman mythology. For example, we all know Zeus, but his Roman equivalent is Jupiter. As interesting as that history is, we’re not here for a history lesson, folks. We’re here to talk about something Rome didn’t absorb: a god unique to Roman mythology—Janus! 👀

Janus was one of the most distinctive gods in Roman mythology, believed to rule over beginnings, endings, transitions, doorways, and passages from one state of life to another. Passages And States of Transition were especially symbolic of his role, representing the movement between what has been and what is yet to come. Unlike many Roman gods, Janus does not have a direct Greek equivalent, making him uniquely Roman. He was commonly depicted with two faces—one looking toward the past and the other toward the future. This symbolism represented his ability to see both what had already happened and what was yet to come.
Because of his connection to transitions and new beginnings, the month of January was named in his honor.

According to Roman tradition, Janus was an ancient god who played an important role in Rome's early history and religion. Some legends describe him as a wise king of Latium before becoming a god, while others portray him as a divine being who helped shape the earliest foundations of Roman society. The Romans believed Janus held great power over beginnings, so he was often honored first during prayers and religious ceremonies before other gods were addressed. His connection to doorways and gates symbolized the idea that every ending leads to a new beginning. With this representation in mind, January became the month associated with Janus—the first month of the year, reminding us to look back at what has passed while also looking forward to what is still to come.

✨ A Major Step Forward for the Solar Flare Collection ✨

We’re excited to announce that Equinox has officially reached a healthy breeding weight and is now ready to graduate into ‘dating’! ☀️🌙

Equinox is officially sitting at 46.6 Grams.

Before introducing him to Solstice, we’re giving her a few more days to fully settle after her recent, major enclosure change. After that, we’ll be checking her calcium sacs to ensure they are in healthy condition and that she is physically prepared to carry eggs.

Solstice is sitting at 49.8 Grams.

If everything looks good, the next chapter of the Solar Flare Collection may be beginning very soon. 🔥🥚

We’re taking our time and putting their health first every step of the way—and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for this pairing! 🖤✨

✨ MORPHTASTIC MONDAY ✨ Hatchling Edition!🐾

Baby geckos are full of surprises! 🦎 One of the most exciting parts of raising a crested gecko is watching its coloration and pattern develop as it grows. The gecko you see as a tiny hatchling may look surprisingly different just a few months later!

In the early stages of life, a hatchling’s colors and markings are often still developing. As they grow, their base color may become lighter or darker, patterns can become more defined, and Dalmatian spots or other markings may begin to appear and increase over time. Some geckos can even develop colors or patterns that were barely visible when they first hatched!

Crested geckos can also change dramatically depending on whether they are fired up or fired down. When fired up, their colors often appear darker, brighter, or more vibrant. When fired down, they may look lighter, softer, and less contrasted. Because of this, the same baby gecko can look completely different depending on its mood and environment!

This is why predicting exactly what a baby crested gecko will look like as an adult can be difficult—but that’s part of the fun! Watching their colors, patterns, and unique traits develop makes every hatchling’s journey exciting. 💚

Every baby starts with potential… but time reveals the masterpiece. ✨

✨ Mythos Weekly Update ✨

Week of August 15th —August 23nd
Hello, Mythlings! 🖤 Thank you for joining us for another weekly update. Here is what has been happening behind the scenes this week!

🏡 Life Updates
• Not much has changed since the last time we talked. Yet, everything changed! Here’s how.
• Brooklyn has officially begun third grade. There’s been some obvious hiccups in her behavior with the classroom as we always deal with, but honestly not worse than everyday things, either. To me, her behaviors not being worse is a huge accomplishment and a small step in the right direction for her.
• For those of you that may be unaware, our house has been crawling with activity due to one tiny thing; a baby gecko. More information on the gecko below, but when I say crawling with activity, I mean my brother has come over, my mom has, our friend Drayven has, we have a few other friends that are supposed to swing by at some point next week, ect. This is the most we’ve hung out with people in quite some time, and honestly, it’s kinda nice!

🦎 Mythos Updates
• A new hatchling has arrived at the Mythos location! We are doing a voting system until Thursday to select a name for him. When I say he/him, I am definitely just calling them that. This gecko is brand new, and we won’t be able to tell their exact gender until 15-25G. I’m just so excited to see this little one grow! He’s already got a home lined up, but we will have plenty more if anyone of you gorgeous followers are interested in one!
• I did plan to do a weight check on Equinox, a full body exam on Solstice, and get her enclosure prepared for a breeder set up, but the universe decided to give me a hatchling to focus on. Our goal is to begin handing the little ones early so as they grow they get more comfortable with handling so that they make excellent pets/breeders for someone else! So this just means Nox gets some more space and Solstice gets victory, as she’s a nervous girl and doesn’t enjoy handling, this pushes back necessary handling for them for a temporary time. I do fully intend on proceeding as planned next week to get back on track.
• I got so lucky on getting this nursery set up sooner rather than later! I do plan on making more nurseries when I have the chance. For now, 4 out of 6 eggs are going to hatch, meaning I do have 2 extra nurseries for now. Solstice has not been bred yet and unless Scrunchie decides to give us a few more eggs, I do not believe our hatchling capacity requires me to make more.

🔮 Looking Ahead
• The nursery is holding temps beautifully! The little gecko is settling in wonderfully, so I know their siblings will follow in his steps.
• This Thursday we will be doing more weigh ins and a pre-pairing examination of Solstice’s calcium sacs to see if she’s ready to carry eggs. While we get her body prepared to create a new generation of geckos.

Guys! Guys! At just 72 H old, the new baby got its first handling experience and let me tell you it went SO MUCH BETTER THAN I EXPECTED.

I’m so large compared to this little one, so when I went in to scoop him up I fully expected sprints, bolts, hops, leaps, and more. But what he did really surprised me.

He just kinda chilled on my hand! Once I managed to get him out, which I gently coaxed him out, he ended up on my hand and was like “yep. This is the spot, alright.”

And simply hung out! I can’t handle his mom at all because despite everything we’ve done, she just doesn’t want it to happen so we respect that. His dad? Psssht. He doesn’t care if you scoop him up like ice cream.

I’m just so pleased with how this has been so far. Baby is continuously growing, getting stronger every day, eating regularly, already experienced his first shed, and is constantly exploring his new home & existence.
