General information
For relaxation, I enjoy watching the flames turn the glass into molten objects allowing for manipulation and shaping of different forms of my choice and color. And just for a change, I work on flat glass to create a variety of art both functional or not.

Just a little something
autobiography
The desire to create has always been a part of my life in some form or another. Thirty five years ago I discovered glass and all the phases of forming it into desirable art or functional pieces I could be proud of. As the years of discovery changed, I have settled into flameworking glass with a torch using soft glass and borosilicate. I am rather an instant gratification type artist, so working on projects that take a lot of thought and time have a tendancy to make me turn the other way. With a torch, I can create many different shapes with fairly fast results. The colors and their reactions never end as the glass companies are constantly taxing my pocketbook with new developments in their field.
Watercolor painting has always been admired from a distance as I had no means of learning and the desire to learn was not strong until a friend taught me how to make greeting cards using watercolors. I was hooked. I began taking weekly classes in Spokane and registered in workshops with some of my favorite artists.. Karlyn Holman probably influenced me the most with all her different textures and techniques but Zoltan Szabo's style of painting appeals to me constantly. Another artist, Jean Haines, taught me that a watercolor artist can create a lovely piece of art with a lot of color and a "suggestion" of the subject. Cowboy art is totally fun. William Matthews and Don Weller are my super heros in the western art world.
Recently, while experimenting with different techniques, I found using coffee as a media has opened up a new adventure. It helped me to understand how values can make or break a painting.
