Botanists long believed the plant that's exclusive to the Pine Barrens was related to varieties that are hundreds of miles away.

We have to move our honeybees! After my husband got stung several times while mowing the lawn last year, we knew we had to move them to a different spot. The vibrations of the lawnmower would get them so agitated, so we stopped mowing there for the rest of the year.

Now they have their own nice little clearing, farther away from the lawn in part shade and I get to walk down this little woodland path to visit them ☺️🐝🌼

Cool air, warm sun and baby raspberry plants! 🌱☀️

These are your classic red raspberry plants. Leaves can be harvested for tea and of course, there are delicious berries! This variety does have thorns, like raspberries typically do.

They thrive in sun and can multiply and take up a large area after only a few years. I started in 2023 with 3 plants and now I’ve got over 30!

Its late August and the growing season is coming to a close here in Pennsylvania… it’s a good time to reflect on the years successes and failures- what worked and what didnt? What would you like to try again? What would you like to change or expand on?

✨Did you grow your garden this year with help from me? If you got a Garden Guide in 2025, leave a comment or send a message with some photos of your garden. I would love to know about your thoughts, successes, failures and areas of improvement.

All the spring rain really gave our cucurbits an amazing start 💦 so we are harvesting plenty of cucumbers, watermelon, pumpkins and honeynut squashes! It was a great year for our perennials too as we harvested our first peach and are waiting on our first ever harvest of September figs. Strawberries were a success! The grapes were off to a good start in the beginning of the year but got ravaged by beetles. Next year I would like to focus more on simplifying my growing plan, I have also decided that while I love my tomato plants for their fruit and smell that they are way too unruly for the front of the garden 🤪🍅

I have been mostly quiet on this platform but that’s going to change next year- there’s plenty in the works for the 2026 season, including an expanded menu of services and so much more! So stay tuned…

Salad for dinner 🥗
There’s nothing like a fresh garden salad- if you’ve had one you know. It tastes different, it feels different. Most of the salad greens for sale in the store are already at least a week old- the entire time they’re losing flavor and nutrient value. Those fresh veggies from the garden are still alive! And you can feel the energy you get when you eat them- it tastes so different. I’m so thankful to finally be harvesting salads from the garden again! 🫜

PSA Carpenter Bees 🐝

It’s the time of year when the carpenter bees start buzzing and they sometimes get a bad rap so here are some facts:

1. Carpenter bees ARE NOT aggressive to humans, only to other carpenter bees. They are very territorial about their wood so you may see them chasing eachother around.

2. “Why do they seem to fly into me?” You might ask. That’s because they’re terrible flyers. They have big heavy bodies and shiny butts but their wings are so small in comparison which makes them awful flyers with terrible aim. So they’re not really flying into you on purpose, mostly just buzzing around and bumping into you on accident.

3. Carpenter bees can make holes in wood for their homes but very rarely will cause enough damage to be noteworthy unless you have an infestation.

Bee kind to them 🐝 they’re really just harmless and clumsy!
