You and your children can show support for your school this year, regardless of your time or budget!

✏️ Support your school's PTA events. Did you know that your local PTA likely funds critical items for your child(ren)'s school including science education, classroom supplies, and playground equipment? Led by a dedicated group of parent volunteers, PTA events typically cost just a few dollars, but add up to fulfilling big needs for schools.
Book fairs, fall festivals, and movie nights are just a few fun event examples your school's PTA may organize to provide families opportunities to show their support!

🐱How Kids & Families Can Help Animals with Rancho Coastal Humane Society 🐱

🐩Youth Programs start with a small step and with one paw in front of the other! Adoption and Humane Education programs continue to inform children, who then educate their siblings and parents. Kids ages six and older may attend Animal Camps, Kids Community Service, and the Happy Tales reading program, or bring their friends for birthday parties, tours, and classroom presentations.

🐰Teenagers, working with their parents, can help animals and earn service hours through the Teen Foster Program, and families with children of all ages can hold a pet food drive for RCHS Community Pet Food Bank!

🐭Scouts, or other club members, can collaborate with RCHS for service projects and often return years later with their own children. “I built those benches,” or “That’s the room where I met my first cat. The cat that changed my life,” are examples of fond memories recounted and shared with a new generation of service-minded children.

Started in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, this day is celebrated in ways big and small:

>> Supporting a shelter through food drives, or youth and family-friendly programs like those for RCHS shared above.

Today we commemorate the third anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act ( ), signed on August 4, 2020. The legislation established the National Parks and Public Lands Legacy Restoration Fund and guaranteed permanent funding for the existing Land and Water Conservation Fund.

AFS Intercultural Programs is a worldwide leader in high school exchanges between the USA and over 90 other countries and offers many options for families to get involved. Host high school students for one semester or an entire school year, or act as a Welcome Family for just 12 weeks. Many find hosting creates lifelong friendships and is a unique and rewarding way to introduce their children to other cultural perspectives. Adults may also act as liaisons to AFS students during their stay, even if not hosting. Monthly home-cooked meals or park visits are simple activities that can strengthen the international bond!

AFS is currently looking for host families for the 2023-24 school year in Poway, Escondido, Carlsbad, San Diego, and Fallbrook, where schools are still accepting students.
