The most important stage of no dig gardening is getting the compost right. I have 3 bays, each is 18” x 36”, one for adding to when ever I have anything to put in it, another one already full and one empty. In another month I’ll turn the full bay into the empty one, this will introduce air into the compost and give it a little mix. I cover mine with cardboard when full and within a few weeks it’s settled and started to cook, with smaller bays the heat soon builds up to kill any w**d seeds and the worms get to work.
Never put cooked food into your compost bin or cover with carpet.
Don’t over do the grass cuttings, although a good heat source it will get too mucky, try to layer the grass in between peelings, fruit, unwanted veg, and anything from the veg garden that has passed its best or surplus.
When ready just spread your compost on your beds.

Recently moved here, Bradfield, had an allotment in Stanway but now have one in my back garden.
There’s really is no need to ‘dig’, simply lay cardboard, tapes and staples removed, on to the grass,w**ds or what ever is there. Cover cardboard with 4” muck/manure,compost, cover that with anti w**d membrane, and let the worms do the digging for you. After 3/4 months the cardboard should have disappeared and you have a bed. You can plant straight into the bed if wished.
Today I potted up some broad beans using the cardboard middle from loo rolls.
I then filled with compost, pushed a bean in and covered with more compost. Water well and leave.
I hope to plant out in about 4 weeks by just using a dibber, making a hole to take the loo roll and just stick them in. No chance of damaging the delicate roots.
