Cascara is such a lovely tree. This PNW native's striking rich brown bark and deeply ribbed leaves are truly striking. Not to mention it's a healing plant as well... 2 year seedlings available for preorder now!

We've been keeping bees since before we began the nursery...
Essentially, we keep our bees in bee sanctuary style - not for honey.

We don't treat or interfere with our bees, preferring to trust the bees to know what's best.
Our favorite resource for beekeeping is the newest book from Jacqueline Freeman: What Bees Want: Beekeeping as Nature Intended available on Amazon.
They also run a website of the same name:

This site offers a comprehensive departure from conventional beekeeping. You will find no references to splitting hives, treating bees, inspections, honey extractors, bee suits and gear, except in reference to why we do not do these things.

💚Recently we heard from Mr. Brian Montez about his projects to grow trees in school yard in Rialto, California. He freely admits he was a hard sell on the idea at first, but look what he accomplished once he got inspired!

We were so impressed with his legacy we had to share it!

💚🌱💚🌱💚Comfrey is an excellent border plant in the garden. Also great for under fruit trees! Cut it back a few to many times a season for instant mineralizing mulch for the trees and gardens. Don't forget to harvest roots and leaves for medicinal uses, too!💚🌱💚🌱💚

It's that time again! We are digging up our chestnut seedlings to heel them in for the winter. Some cultivars produced some outstanding trees this year. The Bouche de Betizac seedlings I'm holding in this picture are more than 4 feet long!
