The National Weather Service has winter storm warnings in effect for our area with significant snow accumulations expected and hazardous roads.

If you’ve got a brush pile left from fall clean-up or recent tree work, now’s a good time to take care of it before the snow covers it for the winter.
Once it’s buried, it usually just stays there until spring, and it’s impossible to tell what’s settled into it.
A couple reasons people usually choose to clear it before snowfall:
• Small wildlife and pests tend to shelter in untouched piles over winter
• Snow and ice compact everything, making spring clean-up heavier and harder
• It keeps your yard looking tidy going into the colder months

Know Your Pests – Fall in the Ozarks

Many people will mistakenly say the source of this eyesore is a bagworm, when in reality it’s a Fall Webworm. Webworms build large cobweb masses, like the one pictured, in deciduous trees, whereas bagworms primarily affect evergreens.

Though they are rather unsightly, Fall Webworms are unlikely to harm your trees.
