We came across a cool art project we had to share. John Doessel, , is a graphic designer who takes an elevation of your house and turns it into an iconic piece of art. He nailed the front elevation of our Recard Lane project in Hollin Hills. We made magnets and t-shirts for the House + Garden Tour, and gave the framed print he sent to our fantastic clients. Thanks to our clients for opening their home for the 2026 Hollin Hills House + Garden Tour, and for inviting us to join as architect in residence. Their home also hosted this year’s special history exhibit, with some amazing archival materials.

We completed their kitchen addition and interior improvements in 2023, including a new entry, new finishes throughout, new windows, updated lighting, upgraded heating and cooling, and 250 sq.ft of added space.

We’re grateful to and everyone who stopped by! See you again next year.

At our Potomac Overlook project near Bethesda, Maryland, our carpentry team is fabricating MCM-style windows on site to match the original house. These photos show a survey of the existing windows alongside new being built.

Potomac Overlook is a small, historically recognized neighborhood of just 18 homes, originally designed by the firm Keyes, Lethbridge, and Condon. From this house, the views open wide across the Potomac River valley, especially beautiful in the winter.

We attended the AIA|DC Washingtonian Awards presentation and were honored to receive a Citation for Economy for our College View Home.

Recognition for economy is especially meaningful to us. It reflects one of the core pillars of our practice: restoring rather than tearing down, and treating sustainability as a real design decision, not a marketing layer. For us, economy means long-term value, durability, and making smart use of existing structures to reduce waste and maximize investment.

Day one

Following the architectural process, demolition is underway on this historic midcentury modern home in Bethesda, just off the Potomac. The project is about honoring the original design while bringing the house forward. The goal is not to overwrite what exists, but to clarify it, strengthen it, and address contemporary needs. We are grateful for these clients who value architecture and trust the process.

Seeing big progress at our Recard Lane project in historic Hollin Hills, Virginia. The scope includes extensive interior alterations and new added spaces. We’re lucky to have such daring, collaborative clients, the kind who lean into the design process and truly go for it. Excited to share these exterior elevations from just yesterday!

Mantua Project, Annandale VA, almost there! Final details on the Poggenpohl kitchen and custom hood/upper shelving unit coming together beautifully. Early computer drawings show how the design moved from screen to site.
