You can't fake a dining table top that flows like one piece of wood. It requires starting with veneers sourced from a single tree.

Laying out the grain before finishing — sequential boards, matched figure, seams placed where the eye won't stumble on them. The slowest step in the workroom, and the reason the finished table looks like it grew that way.

Every round table that ever became an oval lost something in the process.

The Prairie Table solves that. The perimeter leaf system allows the table to expand outward from the edge — the round stays round, just larger. More seats, same silhouette. The black slide mechanism in the detail shot is the only evidence that any engineering was involved at all.

Bleached oak, sunburst grain radiating from center. A form that doesn't negotiate with function — it accommodates it, invisibly.
