🚜 Around the Farm This Week
On Wednesday, Rick cut our rye, and on Thursday Greg round baled and wraped to retain moisture and nutrients. The rye is wrapped wet and green, then sealed in bags to lock in nutrients; it ferments as it sits, which prevents molding and preserves feed quality. Then Phil and Rick speared the bales and moved them up to the hill to be wrapped. Our cows absolutely love it when the snow flies — that winter feed makes a big difference. Next, Curt no-tilled beans into the harvested field for our second crop of the season. The rye was planted last fall as a winter cover crop.
