Who knows where???

I'm starting with an easy one in honor of my favorite springtime median strip...which is who knows where???

My house is lived in. Do I keep it (relatively) clean and (relatively) picked up? Yes.

Do I love what I have and try to prevent damage like this? Yes.

But am I going to lose my mind if my favorite feline has clearly chosen her favorite scratching post? No.

I’m going to find a creative solution that allows the chair to live on and her to scratch to her precious little heart’s content.

Do I know what that creative solution is yet? Also no. 😂

Any ideas?

I want my cabin bathroom to be an experience. An outdoor experience, ideally, but skylights will be the next best thing! Alllll the natural light, please and thank you.

And can we take a moment for that wallpaper?!?! I’m a big fan of a bold pattern in a small space like this…even in this dark colorway. As a claustrophobic, I can personally attest to the power of sufficient lighting counteracting the discomfort of a small space.

Hello! I’m Nancy, your favorite affordable interior designer. Allow me to introduce myself…

I grew up in a log cabin that my dad built on his parents’ farmland.

After undergrad, I learned about home construction through being a claim adjuster and homeowner. That’s when it all ‘clicked’ for me. I wanted to learn it all, so off to design school I went!

Now I live in Madison, WI with my partner (and favorite person) Terry, and a goofy cat named Willow. I am grateful every day that I get to do life with their kind souls.

I also own a cute little wooded lot on a small lake about an hour north of Madison. Someday I will build a cabin of my own, but for now it is great little getaway for the day.

A few of my truths: my people are most important to me. My house is lived in. We The People rule. Burnout taught me to prioritize rest.

Photography, wildlife, travel, and live music make my soul happy.

And I genuinely love designing! What a dream to be able to support myself by helping people create a space they love within their budget.

What would I suggest you do in the entryway if your cabin is a short-term rental?

So glad you asked.

I’d suggest you place a binder with all the property information on top of the dresser.

I’d suggest you frame and hang the wi-fi password.

I’d also suggest you hang a local map marked with your favorite spots.

And I’d suggest you provide complimentary slippers as part of the cabin experience. It’s a fun keepsake for your guests and your floors will thank you. Win - win!
