Don’t find yourself stranded by NOT doing this easy maintenance fix. Truck stopped running suddenly. I initially thought I ran out of fuel because no fuel was coming out of the bleed screw after pumping the primer pump. I then found that there was no vacuum in the fuel line and there had to be an air leak somewhere. I learned that the filter housing o rings deteriorate and is a common issue with the Duramax. The o ring on the fuel heater housing was completely gone/deteriorated (see pic) and was enough to completely stop my truck from running.
This kit cost $25 and I’ll keep a spare in my truck next to my spare fuel filter. After doing research some have had these o rings in the filter housing fail after just 5 years. Most common suggestion is to replace every 10 years. My orings lasted 20 years before causing a problem. Granted I only have 150,000 miles on it.
