Some work on a bald cypress.

I've had this tree growing in its nursery pot for a few years now. It's rootbound, and ready for a change.

It was about 6-7 feet tall and I Chopped it down to a foot.

As can be seen and expected from rootbound nursery stock, it had some root problems. But not too bad.

In the end I removed about 95% of the roots. Maybe more 🤣
Love bald cypress! (taxodium distichum)

It'll be fine and they take work like this very well.

It'll now be planted in this colander and put in a tub of water (yes submerged) from now until next winter.

I've found they thrive this way, just like in a swamp.

Ilex compacta

Hollies are one of my favorite trees to work with. This one is a Japanese Compact Holly.

After initial styling not sure if I'll keep this as a "mother daughter."

These pics don't do it justice but keeping both makes a very nice composition. The right trunk shows good age and would make a wonderful tree on its own.

Updates on this will come later this summer.

Good morning! I love when maples wake up!

This one is a few years old I collected from it from a gutter.

First picture was last week. Second picture a few days ago. They grow like crazy, which makes them great bonsai subjects.

Good morning!

Got this new tool roll from Stonelantern.com

Not real leather but close enough. So far I'm liking it.

The only improvement I would make would be the width of the tool slots. They are literally just a mm too narrow. That is why the shears are upside down. The slot won't fit the handles. But not a big deal!

Acquired this pot recently. Really like the color.

This is a decently made pot, though not a high end one.
