🐍 Meet Gerdie, Our Garden Guardian
Out in one of our raised beds lives a quiet little helper we’ve come to appreciate - Gerdie the Eastern Garter Snake.
Gerdie has lived in our raised bed for a while now, and we’re happy to share the space. She’s gentle, curious, and absolutely fantastic at keeping the garden balanced. Around here, she helps by snacking on slugs, crickets, and the occasional mouse--nature’s pest control at its finest.
A few fun facts about our girl:
• She’s totally harmless (to humans) and prefers peace over drama
• She loves a warm patch of sunlight on a cool morning
• She minds her business and keeps the garden ecosystem humming
We don’t handle her or disturb her; she’s simply one of the many wild neighbors that share this land with us. Gerdie’s presence is a reminder that even the smallest creatures contribute to the health of a farm, keeping populations in balance.
Here’s to the quiet helpers who make the soil richer, the beds livelier, and the world a little more interesting.
