Should You Seal Your Redwood Fence?Redwood naturally ages into a soft silver-gray. If you want to preserve the warm red color longer, sealing helps protect against UV damage and moisture. We’ll inspect your fence and recommend whether sealing is worth it for your yard.Ask us about sealing: (510) 916-4135 or [email protected].

Why Screws Beat Nails Every TimeOlder fences built with nails loosen as wood expands and contracts. This leads to squeaking boards, loose panels, and failures during windstorms. We build every fence with deep-anchoring exterior screws for maximum stability and longevity. For long-lasting construction, call Hermanos Fence at (510) 916-4135.

Why Fences Lean — And How We Prevent It

Bay Area windstorms push old fences to their limits. Once a fence leans even a few degrees, its structural integrity is compromised. We set posts deeper than most contractors and use thicker redwood rails built to withstand years of strong coastal winds in Fremont and Newark.

Why Redwood Outlasts Other WoodsMost fence failures in the Bay Area start the same way: water sneaks into old boards, causing warping, cracking, and separation over time. Redwood naturally resists rot, but even the best wood needs proper installation to survive moisture cycles in Fremont, Newark, and Union City. If your fence looks gray, soft at the base, or has small gaps forming, it’s already in early failure. We offer free inspections with honest recommendations—no pressure.Call Hermanos Fence at (510) 916-4135 or email [email protected] for a free quote.

How Much Does a Fence Cost in the Bay Area?

If you’re planning to install a new fence, here’s a quick guide to what most homeowners in the Bay Area pay.

This guide covers standard redwood fences. If you’re looking for something more custom, pricing will vary and an on-site estimate is recommended.

Redwood fences: $38–$55 per foot

Your price depends on three main factors:

Market demand. Prices are usually better during the slower season — fall and winter. When demand goes down, so do prices.

Material quality. Material makes up most of your cost. Low quotes often mean low-quality materials. For wood, pressure-treated and redwood are reliable options. Buying from local lumberyards ensures better quality than big retail stores.

Subcontractors. Avoid subcontractors and work directly with licensed contractors. Each middleman adds extra profit — often up to 30%.

Always compare quotes carefully and make sure you know what materials and installation standards are included.

Call Hermanos Fence today for a fair, transparent quote for your Bay Area fence project.

Fence Fact Friday: Did You Know? 🤔
🏡 The Oldest Fence in the World is over 5,500 years old!
It’s called the Dingo Fence in Australia and was originally built to protect farmland from—you guessed it—wild dingoes! Today, it stretches more than 3,400 miles, making it one of the longest structures ever built.

Fences have come a long way since then, but their purpose remains the same: to protect and define your space.

📚 Fun fact: A well-built fence can increase your property value by up to 20%!
