Coming up with content is hard, especially creating interesting posts that keep people engaged. I’ve felt that a lot lately but I’ve noticed a lot of bookshops and small businesses utilizing AI for social media and it’s giving me the ick. So here’s a picture of our shop on a random weekday because I’ve had a difficult week but still refuse to utilize AI for our social media presence.

It’s September 2nd and it’s a high of 92 degrees 🥵 but we are pretending it’s a crisp 55 degree day inside 😂❤️

Happy September 1st ✨

Did you know we donate a portion of sales from every Harry Potter candle to a LGBTQ youth nonprofit? We’re a firm believer that you can enjoy the magic and nostalgia of childhood without supporting harmful authors. 🫶🏻

September 1st is the doorway to our favorite season. I love a crisp 55 degree day on a leaf walk in the woods, crunching under my boots and birdsong in the air. I love the smell of cinnamon and apples in the crockpot to make homemade apple butter as gifts for friends. I love chilly morning farmer’s markets and evenings by a bonfire and trick or treating under street lights and waking up to watch the Macy’s Day parade. I hope this autumn treats you kindly and you can take the time to create a cozy space for yourself that feels safe and comforting this season. 🍂

Help me check off my to do list! ✅

But honestly, I think there’s a fantasy people have about owning a cozy bookstore and reading all day. Sometimes I do read! But most of the time I’m organizing, doing inventory, answering emails, updating the website, cleaning, and working on social media (all while chatting with customers who come in!). Owning a small business is hard and wonderful and frustrating and time consuming and gratifying work and I’m happy to be doing it in and out every day. Even when I have to clean the bathroom 🤪
