JAMES CONARROE is a neighbor of the Museum. He is a very polite, unassuming patriot and laid back Gentleman, who smokes a to***co pipe when relaxing. He is also an excellent wood worker and has made some support props for the Museum. He has a quaint lttle wood shop and his work is first class. Thanks JIM!

JIM's business is called CONARROE's "CREATIONS" and he and Associate MATT, do some quailty wood working and miscellaneous home tasks. Timely, fair and affordable!

EASTER DUCK FACTS

Before you buy baby ducks for Easter baskets and photo ops, please consider....

They p**p every 10–15 minutes (even in their sleep), and they cannot be housebroken.

They soak everything. Pools are muck in 90 seconds, you will never have a cute or attractive duck setup.

They ruin grass and compact soil...with duck p**p.

They dig.

They cannot live inside (needless to say), and they're fully grown by 8 weeks old.

They need predator-proof housing with adequate space to move. A coop with hardware cloth and locking latches. A dog crate is too small and not secure from reaching predators.

They are social animals and will spiral mentally if alone, they need at least one companion.

They live for more than ten years.

The females are loud, the males can be aggressive, and there will be babies.

They are very hard to rehome. Shelters and sanctuaries are overwhelmed with ducks.

They WILL die if released into the wild or even neighborhood ponds. They're non migratory and flightless, completely vulnerable to predators, winter temps and starvation.

Hi friends! We are reaching out to see if anyone in our community would be willing to help with transportation for our TNR cat appointments.

We could use some help picking up our TNR cats in Miamisburg at 4pm on appointment days and bringing them back to Germantown. Right now, we have to leave work early each time to make it happen, and it is difficult to keep up with on a regular basis.

If you are available occasionally (or regularly!) to help with transport, it would make such a huge difference for us. The prevention of regularly lost wages will allow us to help our community cats further! We can have 2-3 appointments a week (1-2 traps), sometimes less. You would use your own vehicle.

Even helping once in a while would take so much pressure off and allow us to keep focusing on trapping, recovery, and care.

Ol Jim's been busier than a one armed paper hanger. Between building gun stands for the vet's museum, restoring windows for one of our beloved historical buildings here in Germantown, even building some houses for our community cats. Oh and don't forget, Mr. Jim, to take some time out to make a beautiful plant stand for your wife. If you'd like something crafted up, send us a message! We will be sure to squeeze you in! Hi friends, (for those who haven't seen this post yet) we just want to give a quick introduction. We are Pirate’s Paws; two families (and friends!) that have been working together this past year to TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Germantown and Farmersville community cats (we did over 40 last year). We have already had the pleasure of working with many of you!

We are currently working toward obtaining our 501(c)(3) status, but for now, we are entirely self-funded by our two small founding families. Because of that, our resources are very limited, but our efforts are not!

Our goal:
Humanely TNR as many community cats as we can to reduce suffering, prevent overpopulation, and create healthier colonies.

A few important notes so expectations are clear:
• We are not a rescue and cannot take cats into homes or foster
• Due to limited funds, we cannot accept complex medical cases
• Our focus is strictly TNR for community cats

Right now, we are actively seeking permission to trap and would love to work with property owners who want to help their local cats in a responsible way. Please send us a message if you have cats on your property that need some attention!

The duck insists everything is under control.
The cat has concerns but no solutions.
This is what happens when skilled trades team up: fewer problems, better results, and significantly more supervision than necessary.
If your heat’s acting funny, don’t argue with it call people who know when to tighten a fitting and when to ignore the duck.

Pirate's Paws is proud to be working with Conarroe Creations this winter to build insulated outdoor cat houses!

These houses are being built as supplies allow, currently we've placed all of our completed projects with caretakers 😺

If you'd like to help:
Supplies are always appreciated (insulation board, plywood, straw, screws).
Donations of materials go directly toward building more houses.
