So a client was driving down the road the other day and his truck just shut off. Checked cam sensor, still good. More hunting and find his 30 amp PCM and fuel bowl heater fuse is blown. Unplug the bowl heater install a fuse and it starts right up. He asked himself if it was weird that it shorted out while driving? Since it seemed like it would short while it tried to heat up.

This actually is not really weird at all - those heater short randomly when the element starts failing, doesn't have to be during a heating cycle. I've seen them blow while just sitting there conducting power, especially if there's any corrosion or water intrusion in teh connector
