There’s something to be said for meeting the right people at the right time.

I met my financial professional, Ashley K. Butler, in January 2025 at Anthony Ray’s Financial Services Happy Hour. While everyone else was networking, we quickly realized we both prefer smaller conversations where you can connect deeper and learn something meaningful.

From the beginning, Ashley K. explained financial concepts in a way that made sense to me. No pressure, no agenda.

I didn’t expect to need her services anytime soon. At the time, going full-time with Neet Freek felt like a distant plan.

Fast forward to later in the year when everything changed. My far off in the distant plan to go full-time became closer, but still far enough away.

The same week I started reading Profit First (which was also being discussed in my mentorship program), I received Ashley’s newsletter referencing that exact method. That was my sign.

That’s when we started building the financial foundation behind Neet Freek to replace what a traditional job would provide:
• Insurance
• Retirement
• Vacation pay

What I appreciated most is that this wasn’t a one-size-fits-all approach:
– My insurance research led me to a more strategic option than traditional (and expensive) coverage
– Vacation pay is now built into my business through the Profit First method
– And retirement… well, that was a journey 😅. And also the #1 factor in speeding up the process to work full-time for myself.
Let’s just say working through my 401(k) with Empower was exhausting and frustrating (more on that later). Through it all, Ashley and her business partner, Yvonne Burke, showed incredible patience and support, even when things got complicated.

And that matters.
Because when you’re building something of your own, having the right people in your corner makes all the difference.

This is a tough subject and one that many people are starting to take control of. When I say “control” I am referring to making the decisions, on your own, of what to pass on to loved ones. Which means you are also making decisions of what can be donated or maybe even discarded.

I’ve worked with a few individuals who hired me to help them with this emotional process. I watched them go from timid during our first session to telling me at the beginning of their second or third session exactly what they will not keep. The space in between those sessions is where the magic happens. A switch clicks on and they realize just how loving they are being by doing this themselves. Their love for others ignited a fire and then the fun began!

I recommend this process take place absent of family members. Their mere presence influences decisions and when you add family dynamics it can become stressful for everyone involved.
