They're here. 🌸

After weeks of waiting and a winter that felt way too long, the first blooms of the season started opening this week. There's something about seeing color come back that just gets us every time.

One of Alysia's personal favorites is back in the greenhouse this season: Cerveza 'n Lime plectranthus. If you've never grown it, here's what you're missing: lime-scented foliage, handles heat and drought like a champ, and it looks great all season without any deadheading. Perfect for pots, window boxes, or just tucking into a combination.

When you've worked together long enough, you start thinking alike. 👕😆👕 Shout out to Julie and Gretchen! Between the two of them, they have over 50 years at Beier's Greenhouse! 🤯

But in all seriousness, Beier's Greenhouse would not be what it is today without these two ladies. They are the backbone of our staff - Gretchen (left) is a master at her craft and responsible for all of the beautiful planters we sell. Julie (right) is a true plant lover and responsible for all the tiny details that would otherwise fall through the cracks. Thank you to the both of you wonderful women - we are beyond blessed to have you both on our team! 🌟🌟

At Beier's we're always looking for ways to reduce our reliance on chemicals and grow in a way that's better for our plants, staff , customers, and the environment. Utilizing hanging basket sachets is one step in that direction and we're excited to continue to evolve our biological control program.

It's been a busy one behind the scenes but we took a little break from the planting schedule to put together some hens & chicks pots and we are so glad we did. 🦋 Spring is almost here and we can't wait to see everyone!

The plant most people call a geranium isn't actually a geranium.
Botanists corrected the mistake in 1789. By then the wrong name was already in every catalog, every window box, and every grandmother's vocabulary across Europe. It never got fixed.

The full story goes back to the Dutch East India Company in the 1600s and it's wilder than you'd expect.
