Inside an attic today. It was 84 degrees outside.
That’s a 46 degree difference.
It shouldn’t be like this. Poor ventilation and lack of airflow will turn your attic into a furnace -rather than a buffer for your home.
In this instance, no intake airflow through the soffits was stopping good ventilation.
The research I’ve done, shows four benefits of good ventilation in your attic system:
1. Doesn’t allow moisture to linger that causes mold growth
2. Roof life is prolonged
3. Heating and cooling bills can be lowered
4. Helps fight against ice dams
Make sure your roofer is talking about ventilation (both exhaust and intake -cause you need a balanced system).
