Experimenting with making yogurt in a thermos. Rather than using a yogurt maker, instant pot or some other electric appliance to keep my yogurt warm, I thought I’d try a thermos and keep by the cook stove.

This was last night as my stove was cooling. This
Morning I moved the thermos down and set it on the hitch nearby the stove. I typically do a long incubation for yogurt, I enjoy it tart/tangy and thick. So 12-24 hours is ideal. Because this is my first time using this thermos method, I’ll wait closer to 24 hours.

I’ll remove the lid move the thermos to the fridge, and let it set up before straining the yogurt.

Stay tuned!

Today we culled five 11 week old roosters. I was going to dig a hole to just bury them, but decided I’d process them and slow cook them down, pick off the meat, make broth then can up the broth with some meat in each one.

The end result will be our chicken ramen base.

When the boys want ramen, I’ll open up a jar, pour the the contents into a pot, bring to a boil and then add our noodles. I do add extra chicken seasoning that I make once it’s all cooked up.

They love this quick food.
