Next on my preservation clean-up list is a Rare Gilbert Rohde-attributed floor lamp from 1934, made from cork and chromium, which has been neglected for far too long. Over the next couple of days, let's assess what restoration can be done without compromising its original finishes. In the last picture, a different configuration of the lamp is shown in the setting.

Available is a mid-1930s Machine Age desk, dining or console table in excellent condition, boasting a subtle patina. Accompanying this piece are an Eastern European table lamp circa 1925-1930, crafted from nickel based on research, and a French Art Deco chair from the late 1920s. The set is available for 1800.00, or individual pieces can be purchased at corresponding prices.

Mercury was the name used by the New York Central Railroad for a family of daytime streamliner passenger trains operating between midwestern cities. The Mercury train sets were designed by the noted industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss, and are considered a prime example of Streamline Moderne design.

The first Mercury, operating on a daily roundtrip between Cleveland and Detroit, was introduced on July 15, 1936. The Chicago Mercury, between Chicago and Detroit, and the Cincinnati Mercury, between Cincinnati and Detroit, followed. The Mercury's lasted until the 1950s, with the final survivor, the original Cleveland Mercury, making its last run on July 11, 1959
