Have you ever walked into a room in your home and thought, “Something about this just isn’t right”—then spent weeks trying to figure out how to fix it? Often, the issue isn’t the space itself, but the fact that the furniture and style don’t truly reflect you. When pieces are inherited, gifted, or chosen for someone else’s taste, the room can feel disconnected and the flow just doesn’t work.

This was exactly the challenge one soon-to-be college student and her mom were facing. By reimagining the space with fresh ideas, we created a room that feels more refined, easy to maintain, and serves as a neutral foundation for this exciting next chapter of her life.

Two storage units in the same building, both in desperate need of decluttering and organizing, both done in less than one session each 🙌🏼 Storage units don’t have to be pretty, but they do have to be functional and easily accessible. Wish I had the befores for the inside of the cabinet, but picture this: Opening up the pantry only to have a mountain of madness tumble out, the counter covered in a random assortment of stuff, numerous gallon sized baggies filled to the brim with enough spices to put a flavor factory to shame, at least 7 boxes of turkey seasoning leftover from Thanksgivings past, and a plethora of medications just chillin' in both cabinet and on the counter. This was the result of just clearing out the multiples of spices, the old medications, and a counter top. So do yourself a solid, friends: check your cabinets first before buying that next thing of spices, it's probably hiding in there patiently waiting for you! Objects in shelf are further back than they appear! ⚠️⚠️ While some of this might look like minor fixes, there were years worth of products in all these zones, including areas I had organized outside of the bathroom that I had to combine with what was already in the bathroom. The shelves are actually super deep and super tall, and you had to get on a ladder in order to reach the top shelf 🤨🙃 (useless design if you are not 8’ tall). Here are some of the problems solved!
- Take out the top shelf in the cabinets➡️ bring shelves down a few notches ➡️ install pull out shelves so client has easy access all the way to the back of the shelves ➡️ easy to lift bins for a client going through many medical problems
- inside drawers (Not shown) includes personal hygiene items, prescriptions, and personal care items.
- Mass decluttering! Hair and skin products galore! What was left is probably 10% of what was discarded or donated. More decluttering is still necessary, but will ultimately be up to the client.
- Counter space needed a vertical lift! Products that are used often are on the organizers, and makeup (less used) is focused in the top drawer and top tier of the counter organizers.
