This time during the summer, gardens can begin to look a bit ragged, worn and tired. Now is a good time to look at your garden and determine if it would benefit from fresh color. While annuals are always a part of that plan, perennials like Black Eye Susan, Sedum and Chelone and shrubs such as Viburnum and Beauty Berry are great additions! Check out the link below for some more ideas.

Dawn's Perennial Pick of the Month
Pulmonaria or more commonly known as "Lungwort". These plants have curious white spots on their leaves and pretty little "virginia blue bell" like flowers. Flowers appear from April - June. Flower colors can be red, blue, white or violet. Pulmonaria are valuable shade to semi shade plants and make great ground covers. Mix with Hosta, Astilbe, Epimedium, or grow under Day lilies or Peonies or any large shrub. Great under large Oak trees!

I've noticed lawns are dug up from snow plows and snow loaders as well as Belgium block borders along driveways. Arborvitae trees have split from the weight of the snow. And branches from shrubs like azaleas and rhododendrons have broken from the snow and ice. If this has happened to you please call me directly at 201-206-7188(cell) or 973-423-3003(office)
