A few years back, we helped develop this abandoned property into new housing stock desperately needed in the area. The key to making this site successful was keeping the design simple and being a good neighbor in an area with limited parking. To do this, we used extra onsite parking in the front of the dwellings, which was ringed with landscaping. This allowed us to increase the density of the area without increasing the need for more car storage on the busy street and side streets. We raised the first floor so as not to impact the view of the new buildings caused by the cars parking on the street. In total, we think we the place more enjoyable to drive by, and the finishes and floor plans are selected so the residents feel like they are in a home built for their long-term needs (spacious rooms/multiple bathrooms per unit/stand alone washer&dryer/Andersen windows/hardwood floors/tall ceilings/finished basement storage), not an apartment flipped over for the new guy.
