❄️ Everyone talks about essential workers going out during winter storms…
And rightfully so.

But somehow, we often forget to mention the HVAC technicians —
the ones driving on iced roads, in zero visibility, climbing ladders, crawling into freezing crawl spaces for 10 or more hours…
so that other families can be warm and safe.

What many don’t see is the other side of that sacrifice:
the families watching their husband or dad walk out into the storm,
with that quiet, gut-wrenching worry of “Will he make it back home safely?”

Because behind every service call in a storm,
there’s a family holding their breath until they hear the door open again.

So today, let’s say it louder:
HVAC technicians are essential too.
And their courage — and their families’ strength — deserve to be seen, respected, and appreciated.

To every HVAC tech out there braving the storms:
Thank you for keeping our homes warm,
even when the world outside is freezing.

Just a friendly HVAC reminder. Some of you may be experiencing temps way colder than normal. In many cases these temps are what we call beyond design conditions. As an example, in my area we have a design temp of 0°. What that means is if the unit is properly sized it will run non-stop to maintain an indoor temp of 70°.

With these cold temps, bypass the setback programming where the temp turns down at night. Put your thermostat on hold temp. It’s struggling enough to hold the temp. Don’t ask it to try and recover too. If your unit is running non-stop and you’re only achieving temps in the mid 60’s, your unit may be running fine. It’s just being pushed beyond design. Make sure your filter is clean and wait it out.
