🌳 Today’s Tree Care Tip: Seiridium Canker
Seiridium canker is a fungal disease that commonly affects Leyland cypress, causing branch dieback and browning foliage.

Watch for thinning canopies, dead branches, and discolored foliage. Early detection can help slow the spread.

Management options include:
✔️ Pruning infected branches
✔️ Removing diseased material
✔️ Reducing water stress
✔️ Sterilizing tools between cuts

If you notice these symptoms or have concerns about the health of your trees, give us a call at (843)757-8050 to schedule a consultation with one of our certified arborists.

The answer is… Maple Callus Borer 🐛🍁

These insects are commonly found attacking stressed or wounded maple trees, especially around old pruning cuts, cracks, and damaged bark. The small round holes shown in the previous post are exit holes left behind as the adult borers emerge.

While they usually target already stressed trees, their activity can weaken the tree further and allow decay to spread over time.

The best defense is keeping trees healthy with proper pruning, routine inspections, and proactive care. If you’re noticing signs of decline or insect activity on your trees, contact us to schedule an inspection before the damage gets worse.

Can you guess this pest? 👀🐛

These small round holes and bark damage on a maple tree are signs of an insect problem that can weaken stressed trees and lead to further decline over time. Insects like this often target trees that are already under stress from wounds, drought, poor pruning, or environmental conditions.

One clue? The damage is usually found around injured or callused areas of the bark where the tree is trying to heal itself.

Do you know what pest caused this damage? Drop your guesses in the comments below ⬇️

Stay tuned for our next post, where we reveal the answer and explain how to help prevent damage like this from spreading in your landscape.
