The first time I turned my dining room into a music video… because apparently baking the truffles quietly wasn’t an option. A green screen. A gold skirt. Three mysterious backing singers. My own magazine and not a crumb left behind.

The Great American Baking Show has reportedly been cancelled… again! So naturally, I’ve fantasy-cast the reboot. American bakers on a grand Newport estate, with Amy Sedaris and Tituss Burgess hosting, and Cheryl Day and Lucille L’queur judging. Warmth, glamour, blunt honesty and actual baking credentials! 💅🏼

Would you watch?

Apparently writing a recipe book involves homework... Who knew? 📚💝

Today I traded my mixing bowls for the stacks at the New York Public Library, doing research for my book. I’m digging through books, archives, stories, and history to find the people and moments that helped shape our community… and then figuring out how to tell those stories through recipes.

Because every recipe has a story. And some stories are absolutely delicious. 💅🏻

Research today. Recipes tomorrow. (And somewhere in between, I’m going to need a cocktail🍸)

Sometimes research takes you exactly where you’re meant to be. 🌈

I travelled over to Jersey City and Hoboken this week to do a little research for my upcoming book, and by a very fabulous stroke of luck, Hoboken Pride happened to be in full swing.

So, naturally, I had to investigate. Thoroughly. With photos.

Such a joyful afternoon, with fabulous performances from Kimmy Sumony, Freeda Kulo, Stefani Steel, Cyre and Diva Dance, plus DJs Tim Dawg and Mike Cruz keeping the pier suitably lively.

Not quite the quiet research day I had planned, but honestly, far better. And I have a feeling I’ll be returning to this little moment when the book finally makes its way into the world. 💝

Six years ago today, I made this cake. ❤️🤍💙 I still believe in America, having immigrated here 18 years ago this year with my husband. We were babies. A lot has changed since then, but I still believe there is more good in this world than hate. Keep creating. Keep speaking up. Keep hoping. 💝

Hello, my bees! If you’ve been wondering where Lucille has been, I haven’t vanished. I’ve just been hyper-fixating on my book. 70 recipes tested “my own” 30 to go- Apparently my dyslexic brain only has two settings:
1. Can’t focus.
2. Become one with the project. 😏

Baker Bees, I’m halfway through testing 100+ recipes for my q***r history book so yes, I’m basically a historian now… just with better snacks.

Some stories deserve to be remembered, preferably with buttercream.
