Happy New Year from Gail and Jonathan at Owl Tree Acres farm! We are starting a new chapter here on our farm and want to share with our friends and community.
During the new year of 2025 - sounds amazing to say that number - we will be offering FREE classes on the homestead. Jonathan and I want to offer YOU an opportunity to learn from us and we will probably learn some things from you also!
Watch this page for updates as I will be posting the dates and times that these "Hands on" classes and workshops will take place. Some of the things we will be teaching/sharing include:
Gail
- Basic sewing - both by hand and machine
- Make your own clothing pattern
- Making herbal salves, oils, tinctures and teas
- Dehydrating food and herbs
- Identify and harvest your own herbs for drying
- Set up a home apothecary
- Starting seeds for your garden
- Use cuttings to grow more plants
- Canning food using a water bath canner
- Pressure canning meats and vegetables
- Steam juicing and canning fruits and berries
- Make your own wine the easy way
Jonathan
- Build canning shelves
- Chopping and storing wood for firewood
- Build your own cutting board
- Build your own raised beds for gardening
- Making your own compost
- Raising chickens, rabbits and pigs on the farm
Art and Craft classes by Gail may include:
- Painting with watercolor, acrylics, pen and ink
- Working with air dry clay
- Sculpting with armatures
- Jewelry making- Card making and scrapbooking
- Paining signs and barn quilts for your farm
We welcome your ideas and feedback on your interest in participating in one or more of these sessions.
For those who might want to come from a distance and stay here on the farm in order to join a workshop, we do have a couple of small cabins that are available to rent for a small charge. More to come on the cabins.
