NIBA Designs

NIBA Designs The utmost quality & flexibility in custom rug design. By founder and creative director Beth Arrowood I am proud to introduce to you NIBA Designs!

When I founded the company back in 2005, my intention was to cater solely to the interior design market. After working as an interior designer and through my own research, I found that most rug companies carried large inventories of dated-looking designs, and worse, offered minimal customer service. Our goal at NIBA Designs is to offer an array of beautiful designs, with new designs being introduc

ed every few months. We also provide unparalleled personal service. NIBA rugs salespeople are all trained in interior design, and understand first-hand the pressure and time constraints designers face. Our job is to make your lives easier- from same-day service for quotations and renderings, to free catalogues and samples for your libraries, to creating custom rug designs for your projects. We pride ourselves on our flexibility in composition, design and price points. We offer thousands of color choices, in materials such as wool, silk, hemp, linen, bamboo, allo, tencel, nylon, cotton, sunpat and more. Continual development of new fibers and techniques is very important to us. And so are the relationships with our factories. We visit each factory once a year, and work very closely with the owners and their staff. Each factory must not only meet acceptable standards for every aspect of its working conditions, but it must also be in alliance with GoodWeave (formerly known as RugMark) to ensure that there is no child labor used in the manufacturing of our rugs. By developing strong personal relationships with our factories, we are able to deliver superior service and excellent lead times. In return, we keep the ancient traditions of rug-making alive while keeping people employed and offering help in countries of great need. I invite you to visit our showroom in Hollywood Florida or on our website at www.NIBADesigns.com. If you prefer one of our regional sales managers can schedule a personal appointment in your office. Thank you for your interest in NIBADesigns. We look forward to working with you! Beth Arrowood

Why should a custom rug be one of the very first selections in a room?

Because the best interiors are designed with intention — not assembled by finding pieces that simply “fit.”

The rug establishes the foundation for nearly everything else:
the furniture plan, the scale of the other pieces in the room, the palette, the fabrics, the movement, and ultimately the feeling the space carries when you walk into it.

And yes, custom rugs also happen to carry some of the longest lead times in the design process because true handmade craftsmanship takes time. But beyond timing, this is really about cohesion.

Imagine trying to source the “perfect” 12’6” x 13’9” rug off a rack somewhere after every other selection has already been finalized. Suddenly the proportions feel compromised, the palette becomes limiting, and the room starts revolving around what’s available instead of what was envisioned.

This is one of the clearest examples we see every day of why custom matters.

A thoughtfully designed rug makes a room feel layered and intentional — instead of a collection of beautiful pieces trying to work together after the fact.

At NIBA, we often say the rug is not the finishing touch.
It’s the starting point.

From strike-off to full scale — this Cluster design with its sandy ground and sea glass pattern really make a room sing.

What you’re seeing:

Color matching and strike-off review directly on the loom.

The full-scale rug taking shape, knot by knot.

The silk pattern adds that quiet luminosity — the way it catches light shifts the whole mood of the colorway. Paired with wool, you get the depth and durability to back it up.

Another NIBA rug ready for its forever home!

Some evenings just feel like Miami at its very best. ✨

An intimate night at the Surf Club with some of the best designers, creatives, friends, and colleagues in the industry.

So many of these relationships have grown far beyond work. Years of collaboration turn into friendship, and nights like this are a beautiful reminder of the community we’ve built together through design.

A gorgeous Miami evening, an iconic setting, and the best in the business gathered around one table. 🥂

There’s nothing quite like truck day at NIBA. 🚛✨

Watching Sebastian unload a fresh shipment of handmade rugs never gets old. Every roll coming off that truck represents months of craftsmanship, coordination, customization, and care — and we can’t wait to get these beauties into their new homes.

But here’s something that doesn’t get talked about enough in the rug industry: what happens after the rug leaves the warehouse matters just as much as everything that happened before it.

A luxury handmade rug is an investment, and proper receiving is a critical part of protecting that investment. At NIBA, every rug is carefully packed on a pipe with protective wrapping like Tyvek to help preserve its integrity during transit. But equally important is who receives it on the other side.

A professional rug receiver understands:
• how to properly unload and inspect rugs
• how to store them correctly
• how to avoid creasing, moisture, or damage
• and how to coordinate installation with care and precision

It may not be the glamorous side of the design process, but it’s one of the most important. From custom design development and value engineering all the way through receiving and final installation, we believe the details matter at every single stage.

Whether we’re handling full white-glove installation services or shipping across the country to trusted receivers and installers, our goal is always the same: making sure every rug arrives and lives beautifully in its final space.

The pretty part is the finished room. The important part is everything it took to get there. 🤍

Definitely the start of something beautiful!
An Ombre somehow manages to be both a statement and a neutral all at once. 💙

Soft fades of color like this can lean coastal, contemporary, organic, transitional, tailored, playful, serene… it all depends on the palette, texture, and overall experience surrounding it. That’s the beauty of handmade design — a single concept can take on an entirely different personality from one interior to the next.

Watching these yarns move from crisp white into layered shades of blue before heading into weaving is a reminder that even the subtlest shifts in color can completely transform a space.

When Beth comes to your office for a presentation… she’s not just bringing rugs. She’s bringing the entire foundation of the custom process. ✨
(Assuming UPS cooperates and our sample bags don’t decide to take a trip of their own first 😅)

Every NIBA presentation starts with the building blocks: fibers, constructions, techniques, textures, knot types, finishes, qualities, and all the little details that help shape the final rug. From plush New Zealand wool to silk, PET, abaca, jute, handknotted, handloomed, flatweave, dhurrie, cut pile, loop pile and beyond — we walk designers through the possibilities in a way that feels approachable, collaborative, and inspiring.

But here’s the thing we always say:
You don’t need to memorize every construction before starting the process. In fact, the best place to begin is usually with the design itself.

Fall in love with a pattern. A texture. A color palette. A piece of art. A feeling. From there, we help guide the rest.

We’ll review:
• lifestyle + application
• fiber performance
• budget + value engineering
• construction options
• texture + finish
• lead times
• and all the technical details that bring the vision to life

That’s the beauty of working with a truly custom rug company. We’re here to simplify the process, educate along the way, and help designers create something completely unique for each client and each space.

Nashville — Beth’s headed your way this week, sample bags and all 🤎

The foundation for effortlessly chic interiors.

One of the things we love most about the rug world is how many different constructions and fibers can completely transform the feeling of a space. This carousel highlights a mix of flatweaves, plant fibers, and indoor/outdoor rugs — all tied together by that effortless, layered aesthetic so many designers and homeowners gravitate toward today.

At NIBA, we are constantly exploring ways to create interiors that feel relaxed yet refined. Think organic textures, earthy fibers, casual luxury, and pieces that instantly make a room feel warm, grounded, and inviting. Whether it’s a chunky abaca weave, a soft wool dhurrie, a graphic flatweave, or an outdoor rug from our Pacifica Collection, each brings its own personality while still supporting that beautiful livable feeling we all love.

Plant fibers like jute and abaca introduce incredible texture and an organic sensibility that works beautifully in coastal homes, transitional interiors, beach houses, tropical spaces, mountain retreats, and modern organic projects alike. Flatweaves offer versatility, durability, and a more relaxed profile underfoot while still allowing for extraordinary artistry in pattern and scale. And indoor/outdoor constructions continue to evolve far beyond what most people expect, offering softness, sophistication, and performance all at once.

Take a scroll and feel the breeze wash over you!

At NIBA Designs, coastal style is never one-note. It’s relaxed, layered, sun-washed, breezy, playful, and endlessly customizable. Our coastal-inspired rug collections and lookbooks were designed to capture that effortless feeling of summer living — natural textures, ocean tones, sandy neutrals, bold tropical color, and easy elegance.

Line by Line…
Row by Row…

Unlike hand-knotted rugs, handloomed rugs are created using a shuttle apparatus that moves back and forth across the loom, weaving the design into place with incredible precision and artistry. This construction method is often associated with fine textiles and fabrics, making it the perfect choice for soft textures, subtle movement, tweeds, cut-and-loop patterns, tonal designs, and modern organic interiors.

One of the biggest advantages of the handloom construction is the ability to achieve a luxurious custom rug at a more approachable price point — especially for solid rugs, textured neutrals, contemporary patterns, and large-scale installations throughout the home.

This particular rug features a beautiful tweeded cut-and-loop construction, where varying pile heights create dimension, depth, softness, and visual texture. The result is understated yet incredibly sophisticated — proof that simplicity in rug design can still make a major statement.

At NIBA, we love handloom rugs for their versatility, durability, texture, and endless customization possibilities. From modern interiors to transitional homes, the handloom construction allows designers to explore custom colors, fibers, texture, and finish while value engineering an entire residence without sacrificing beauty or craftsmanship.

Ever wonder where the ideas begin?

Usually somewhere between a pile of samples, a sketch, a material conversation, and a designer saying, “What if we tried this it this way?” 👀

One of our favorite parts of the custom process is watching ideas evolve in real time. Before the finished rug, before installation, before the photos… there’s this part. The brainstorming. The problem solving. The creativity.

And honestly? That’s where the magic lives! 💭 💫

Same design. Change in color. Totally different vibe.

That’s the magic of our POP Collection—bold, graphic rugs made to stand out.
