With the rut ramping up it's never a better time to talk about deer!

This year like last year there is a closure to non-rural residents on the Hoonah Road system from Nov 1-10. This means if you do not live in a SE community designed as "rural" under federal regulation that you cannot hunt the road system during those days.

There are several opportunities to meet next week to let folks know what you think about that (good or bad? do you use it? does it matter?)

Please see flier for more information.

Its garlic planting season! Garlic puts down its roots over the winter. Unfortunately last year's crop was a failure for us, but we learned some lessons for this year. Brian Bitz in Hoonah donated some new seed garlic for us to get started again. Thanks Brian!

To plant garlic dig hole 2-3 inch deep in loose soil. Place 1 garlic clove flat-side down in the hole. Cover with soil and then cover the whole bed with plastic or a tarp for the winter.
