🐓 Feed your chickens high protein forage to help save on feed costs! 🐔

Sow perennial clover now for long season forage. The benefits are numerous and you’ll be excited to save $ on feed.

Most chicken runs end up as bare dirt… but it doesn’t have to be that way.

When you plant Cluck & Clover, you’re creating a premium, living forage system your flock can enjoy every single day.

Here’s why chickens love it…

Natural nutrition: Clover is packed with protein, vitamins, and minerals that support healthy birds and strong egg production.

More bugs to snack on: Clover attracts insects, giving chickens extra protein the way nature intended.

Living ground cover: Instead of mud and dust, clover creates a soft green carpet in the run.

Better soil health: Clover naturally fixes nitrogen, improving the soil and helping plants grow back stronger, reducing the use of synthetic fertilizers.

Encourages natural behavior: Chickens love scratching, pecking, and foraging through clover stands.

Within weeks, your run can go from barren to thriving!

Thinking about planting clover this year?
Timing matters more than most people realize.
In most regions, the best planting windows are:
• Early spring once soil temperatures are consistently above 40°F
• Late summer to early fall when soil is warm but air temperatures are cooling
Both windows offer cool, moist conditions that clover prefers.
Spring planting benefits from natural rainfall.
Fall planting often has less w**d competition and strong root establishment before winter.
What you want to avoid is peak summer heat and dry soil that’s when germination struggles.
Are you planting clover for a lawn, pasture, or pollinator mix this year?
Tell us where you’re located and we can help you find that perfect window. 🌱

Bee populations are declining and it’s not caused by just one issue.
Recent U.S. beekeeping surveys have reported losses of over 50% of managed honeybee colonies in a single year. Scientists point to multiple overlapping stressors:
• Habitat loss — fewer flowering plants and nesting areas
• Pesticide exposure, including neonicotinoids
• Parasites like Varroa mites
• Climate related stress affecting bloom timing and forage
Neonicotinoids are of particular concern because they are systemic insecticides. That means they are absorbed into plant tissues, including nectar and pollen. Research shows that even low level exposure can impair bee navigation, reduce reproduction, and weaken colony growth.
When you combine pesticide exposure with disease and habitat loss, colonies become much more vulnerable.
The good news?
You can make a difference.
Planting diverse flowers, avoiding treated seed, and supporting pollinator habitat in your own yard contributes to stronger local ecosystems.
If you’re building a pollinator space this year, what are you planting?
Let’s grow solutions together.

If you’re planting for pollinators, seed sourcing matters more than most people realize.
Neonicotinoids are a class of systemic insecticides sometimes used as seed treatments. Because they move throughout the entire plant, traces can be present in nectar and pollen.
That’s why we want to be clear:
Honey & Hatch seeds are neonicotinoid-free.
We do not sell treated seed.
We prioritize clean, pollinator-safe sourcing.
If you’re creating a wildflower patch, clover lawn, or native habitat space, transparency matters.
Have you ever checked whether your seeds were treated before purchasing? Let’s talk about it. 🌿

Have you ever heard of neonicotinoids?
They’re a class of systemic insecticides commonly used in conventional agriculture and in some ornamental plant production.
“Systemic” means the chemical is absorbed into the plant and moves throughout its tissues, including nectar and pollen.
That’s where the concern comes in.
Research has shown that exposure to neonicotinoids can negatively affect pollinators like bees and butterflies, even at low levels.
For those of us planting native species, clover, and wildflowers to support pollinators, this matters.
It’s one reason sourcing untreated seed is so important.
Have you ever checked whether your seed has been treated?
Let’s talk about it. 🌿
