The Great Smoky Mountains didn't disappoint! We had a great time slowing down for a few days. We visited Cades Cove, went to a truck show, drove on the Foothills Parkway, tackled The Tail of the Dragon, visited several small mom-and-pop stores and restaurants, and just sat around enjoying each other.

It was a beautiful evening in Cades Cove; the scenery never gets old! The wildlife was out in full force. In the past, we have been lucky enough to see some animals, but last night we saw:
7 bears
27 deer
10 wild turkeys
1 Red-headed Woodpecker
1 owl
It was definitely worth the trip! Now onto today, and we'll see what other adventures we can have.

Each Mother's Day, I do a project with my class. This year, they made cute clipboards out of bamboo cutting boards from Dollar Tree. The kids painted flowers, and we added a clip at the top. These will make great picture frames or recipe holders. I'm always open to trying new projects with kids!
