Get ready for the artic blast friends.. Here are a few points that might help.
1: Close all foundation vents around your house
2: Disconnect all water hoses and put a insulated cover on
3: Drip faucets both hot and cold sides.. if it's a single handle make sure it is in the middle
4: Open the cabinet doors under lavatories and kitchen sinks
5: Know where the main house shut off is.. this is very important!!
6: If the power goes out and you have no heat. Turn the main house valve off and open all faucets including outside hose connections. This will allow the water to drain from the system. Make sure to unplug and/or turn off the breaker to the waterheater.
