What's wrong with this picture?
The chandelier? The recessed lights? Both? Let's setup this room a little bit. This is a dedicated home theater room with no windows. No dimmers and the center light is controlled separately from the recessed lights.
So how can we make this better. Consistency, correct color temperature, type of light bulbs, and dimmers.
Consistency - The color difference between the center ceiling light and the recessed lights is so drastic that it's actually distracting. You can't help but to look up because it catches your eye. With LEDs you can choose what color temperature you will use in the different types of lighting fixtures to make the room more coherent and the lights less distracting.
Correct color temperature - Just from the picture it appears that the center ceiling light is around 2700k and the recessed lights are around 3500k or maybe even 4000k. You have to use the right color temp for each room use. For a home theater where you go from dark room to bright lights after the movie, it needs to minimize the drastic change. One way to do this is to use a lower or softer color temp. Since the room has no windows and you want it to not look "gloomy", I would use the color temp of 3000k.
Use the right types of lamps - If you look at the recessed lights, you can see that they are using a BR style lamp that looks to be 5" wide in the recessed lights, called a BR40. That style of lamp tends to bring the light source to the ceiling level which creates glare. What you don't see if that the room has a total of 6 recessed lights to cover the entire room and with the BR style the light is dispersed about 160 degrees which floods the room. What they should have use is either a BR30 which would be above the ceiling plane and cause less glare or to use a Par lamp which focuses the light more to minimize the glare.
Lastly, dimmers - This being a movie theater, they should use smart dimmers to create that movie magic of the lights going down before the movie starts. It also helps with the transition at the end of the movie so that people are not blinded by the lights going to full bright with a on/off switch.
