Been meaning to make a decent video of before and after soft start device installation. This one here showing the reduction in starting amperage on a residential a/c compressor.
One thing that changed after hurricane Beryl, was that more home owners in our area became aware of the benefits of installing a Soft-Start device to the ac condenser. The main feature of a soft start is that it reduces the compressor’s in-rush current/amperage draw during start ups by up to 75%, or more. This reduction in starting amperage allows the air conditioner to come on effortlessly, even with limited power sources such as generators. But there are other benefits; saves electricity, built in surge protection, prolonged life of ac, reduced noise.

The new Heat Pumps are capable of working even below freezing outdoor temperatures. It’s truly an engineering marvel, that it can gather and transfer seemingly absent outdoor heat under such cold conditions. In the past, heat pumps wouldn’t work below freezing temperatures.
Just in case you were wondering or on the fence when considering the $2000 federal tax credit on heat pumps.

It’s really unusual for us in the Texas gulf coast area to experience extreme cold weather but do get freezing weather on occasion.

These are pictures of the actual wall thermostat and screen shot of phone app. It’s a variable speed heat pump installed in my house last April and just now coursing its first winter. Actually, it’s a ‘dual fuel’ or ‘hybrid’ system because it’s matched up with a gas furnace as source of forced air and emergency heat vs matched up to a conventional (or, traditional) airhandler with electric heater.

Recent installation of a Platinum 20 Link variable speed air conditioner. It’s the vary top of the line in the American Standard catalog.
The new Link variable speed systems were introduced just last summer, but the Link compatible zoning controls were just made available in December. This particular install has two main motorized zone dampers, each leading to remote plenums. Additionally, each branch of ductwork has its own easily operated heavy duty manual damper for further adjustments to airflow.

Recent work done at First Cumberland Presbyterian in the River Oaks area.
Replaced a dual circuit 7.5 ton capacity air handler; matched with two condensers.
This one wasn’t easy, the crane was at its limit, and didn’t fully reach the landing on the roof. We had to tie lanyards to pull and clear that corner of building.
But the hardest part, was removing and getting indoor equipment to that part of the attic. Electrical supply lines and ductwork from other systems had to be removed and then reattached. The new air handler itself, we had to remove blower assembly to lighten up the weight so that we could, by hand and muscle, move it over other equipment in the attic. 
In the end, customer is satisfied with the work, and I appreciate their business.

We can replace your standard and unsightly metal return air grill with an aesthetically pleasing and functional wood return air grill. These come unfinished and are stainable, but I painted two of these to match the trim in my house.
