The Story of On The Mark Designs & Remodels
Mark’s Story
After graduating from St. Edward’s University in Austin with his CIS degree, Mark worked in the IT field for over 10 years. He felt most at home in the IT industry while in customer support positions, where he excelled and rose to supervisory roles in two different companies. A few years into his IT career he realized that while the work was doing did not make him feel fulfilled, helping customers resolve their problems did. Mark’s last position in software support was actually in a construction company where he trained and supported software for the on site project managers. Working with project managers and architects in the company put him in a position to view a multitude of architectural drawings and floor plans, which he would look through and study whenever he had the chance. This is when his interest of the layout of rooms and the spaces within them began.
Following this position, Mark moved into a sales position at a flooring company, then into a managerial position at a company that sold granite, flooring, and their installation. It was only a short while before Mark became owner of that store. While his first venture into business ownership had multiple pitfalls, Mark learned many things, the most important of which was that he enjoyed the challenges of being a business owner. After a few years he closed that store, but not before he made his mark by finding good contractors to do his granite installations.
It was not long before customers from that store began calling Mark again, asking if he would handle their new granite projects because they had not found anyone else who handled granite projects as well as he and his crews did. He reached out to his top crews, began taking on granite projects again, and formed On the Mark Granite & Designs, LLC.
