What a day! 😮💨
How are you supposed to feel after making one of the biggest mistakes on a project?
As you can see in the photo, I labeled it Exhibit A.
Somewhere along the way, I misread the maintenance manager's photo and painted the wrong section. Looking back at my own reference photo, I should have started at the second mailbox and painted toward the gate. Instead, I painted from the gate to the second mailbox.
After a long day in the Texas heat, I got it wrong.
Nobody likes making mistakes, especially when the mistake is 280 linear feet of yellow curb paint. 😬
Now the board is discussing whether to cover it with concrete-colored paint or grind it off. That's a lot of yellow paint to remove. Power washing might work, but it could still leave a faded yellow shadow on the concrete.
The good news? Mistakes are lessons if you're willing to learn from them.
Today reminded me of an old saying: Measure twice, cut once. In my business, it's check the plans twice, paint once.
Not the ending I wanted for the day, but tomorrow is another opportunity to make it right.
