I almost ended up on the 6 o’clock news tonight!

Happpppy Beltane and May Day 🌺🪷🔥 With no bonfires on the agenda, I decided to submerge myself in nature and go for a walk in the rain...

Houston has had a LOT of rain, and Buffalo Bayou overflowed its banks, covering the walking paths. When I started, the lower path was partially submerged, but nothing I hadn’t handled before. I was la-la-la-ing, taking photos of birds and plants, singing, completely oblivious to the rising water.

Halfway through, I hit my second flooded bridge. The only person I saw my entire two-hour walk was a parks guy at the first bridge who warned me about water moccasins in the murky water…so yes, that was top of mind 😬 But home was across that bridge...

So… I walked along the grass, climbed onto the outside railing, swung over, and shimmied across. Up close and personal with lizards, spiders, and SO many bugs, all of us just trying to avoid the water. 🌊

I made it across…to more water. No dry land. I paused, asked my angels to protect me 🐍, took a breath, leaped, and scurried quickly through the water to “dry” land. Phew.

Then it hit me… the underpass. Lower ground. No way it wasn’t flooded. Sure enough.

I tried climbing the concrete, but my shoes kept slipping. Grass wasn’t ideal either. But there was a tiny raised crack along the underpass where my shoes could grip. So, I edged across…then still had to climb up (luckily on the correct side of memorial dr.).

Again, those angels: “please let my shoes stick and get me to the top.” About 20 feet up… and somehow, they did. Phew. No slips. I grabbed the beams, pulled myself out, and made it to …cloudy, rainy skies, my version of sunshine today. ☀️

Freedom.

My anxiety dropped the second I hit my first unflooded sidewalk in over an hour. Then immediately called my bestie to describe my adventure. Ha

Snuck in this last garage before we hit 90 degree weather and halt non-air conditioned garages for the hotter summer months. 🥵 Weeee!

Lisa’s client (.slate.life.organized) has been wanting her garage cleared for years. The first photo was taken after we worked 4 hours, sorting everything, but basically the client didn’t have access to her 3 closets in the back or the counters/drawers on the left. After 12 hours, we placed hands on everything, sorting like with like, and then created sections in the garage (bird feeders/seed, tools, pesticides, chairs, light bulbs, camping, Christmas, golf, back up house supplies, kid stuff) and then sections for what’s leaving (a pile of items they need to take to their lake house, pile of trash, Lisa took a full suv load to and I took a car load of donations).

I’d say less than 7% of items were released, which makes for a semi-harder organizing job. BUT it all fit, just not as pretty or wholly accessible as >we< may want. Bottom line: client was extremely happy and that’s all that matters. ;)

Have you been wanting your garage organized?? Let us know and we’ll add you to our cool-weather wait list!! 😎

What a great day for organizing with a quick 3-hour closet reset. 🔥 This client hasn’t been inside her main closet in yearrrrs. She was placing her clothes over chairs in the dining room because she didn’t have access. So today? We gave her access. Woot. Woot.

We created sections: “Her” shelves (shoes, paperwork, sewing, medical devices, sheets), “Gift” shelves (holiday tins for goodies she bakes, food shelf for when she makes meals for the homeless, and store bought gifts), “Happy Memories” shelves (cremated pets, mom’s dishes, photos etc.).

We also utilized her drawers for underwear, socks, jeans, pajamas, and winter (they were mostly empty before).

She places blankets over her living furniture because she has cats and sometimes outside on her patio. So, we needed to keep all the comforters, but they could be stacked in a corner. And kept all plastic bags for the old kitty litter.

We pulled out bags of old paperwork and took 5 bags to Office Depot for shred and did two trips of trash to the apt. dumpster.

Overall, some more tweaking needs to happen, especially as we bring in more items from the living/dining room, but an excellent start to a functional closet. 💪🏻

Do you have an “I’ve ignored it for so long, I have no idea what’s actually inside it anymore” closet? If so, reach out, and we’ll add you to my calendar. I adore transforming ignored spaces into functional ones. ❤️‍🔥

Extreme stress hinders problem-solving and impulse control. Slowing down your decision-making leads to better choices and builds mental toughness. Remember to take regular breaks – a 20-minute meal, a walk, or yoga restores focus and prevents burnout. Prioritize self-care: exercise, meditate, eat well, and enjoy hobbies. A strong mind and body foster resilience.
