WINTER STORM
To all my friends and past customers that own a house homestead and rental.
Winterize your water pipes by insulating them, outside and attic area, but if you aren’t able to do it due to a physical condition or monetary hardship, or If you don’t know if your pipes are insulated this Monday-Friday freeze; turn off your water from the main, and drain your pipes (hot and cold), avoid costly repairs or insurance premium raises. I’m giving you this advice from an insurance claims restorer point of view.
As a House restorer I’d hear an seen it all, during the 2021 winter storm many people follow the channel news recommendations by leaving the faucets running, but due to the extreme power outages (6-12 hours) the pipes got frozen, many people drained their pipes but they didn’t opened the hot water, and the water heater busted due to the oxygen molecules in the water expanding, causing damages regardless of following TV news recommendations.
