Its that time of year and some things to keep in mind throughput the year.

1.) Do not plug surge protectors into one another.
2.) Do not plug space heaters into a surge protector. They are not build for the voltage of a space heater.
3.) Running space heaters for extended periods of time, overnight and leaving them unattended is a fire hazard.

25 000 plus fires a years are caused by space heaters. Leading to serious injuries and death.

Did a mold eval yesterday and every ceiling in the house is hammered. This house has vaulted ceilings and absolutely no ventilation. Which inturn leads to condensating roof decking and mold that will eventually lead to surface mold. By then everything will in fact be molded. Poor ventilation is the number one reason for roof failure.

Mold needs four things to grow. Moisture, temperature, a food source and oxygen. Know what your house is made of? Everything your home is made of is a great sorce of that combination.

This house, my home. Has no overhang. It is one of the oddest things I've seen. The fix is under shingle venting and ridge vents. However, the ceilings will need to be dropped to preform a proper remediation of the mold and to remove the wet, molded insolation. Baffles and new insolation will have to be installed and then we wait for the weather to break.

On the up side, none of the exterior walls are insolated either so now a decision has to be made. Do we try to densely pack blown in insolation or do we just gut the house and start over? Its difficult to densely pack blown in but it can be done, it just makes a huge mess and leave hundreds of holes to repair, finish and paint. Now if we gut the house we can also update the wiring to a grounded system.

Decisions, Decisions.

Oh and then we go to the crawlspace and look how lovely this is. It'll have to be remediated as well and have a sealed v***r barrier system installed as well as encapsulated and insolated.

Pics below don't do it justice and arent even a fraction on the eval. Fun times. 😂😂😂

In a good way tho.

Meaning, Sure. We'll lift your house up and put in new bottom plates.

She's toast. Lots of water and bug damage. But, We'll get her all fixed up.

Staring with the outside wall today as I still have supports to put in on the other side of the center wall.

We've already installed drainage around the perimeter of the building and a metal roof so we got the water issues addressed. Now to move forward.

Stop fixing things. For the love of all things holy. CALL SOMONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING!

Wet ceiling in my son's room turns out to be not only absent of insolation but a wonderful cut rafter with quite possibly the poorest repair I've seen to date. It's no only cut but missing a huge chunk. UGH!

So I cut a few other spots out of the wall to check cause they were damp and you know what goes in your walls. INSOLATION!

Some days its hard for me to stick up for contractors. In fact. Most of them straight suck.

🚨WARNING🚨

For Newbury and surrounding areas.

There a dude just pulling up to houses insisting that he speak with the homeowners and that he can get any old damage roof replaced through your insurance. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. IT'S A SCAM!!!

There is no insurance or homeowners policy that will cover previous damages.

I literally just had to chase him off a project with a small sledge in hand when he refused to identify himself and the company he works for as he didn't have a company shirt or company logo on his truck.

He then became belligerent, called me several choice words and slandering phrases. Obviously he can f**k around but didn't have the balls to find out.

Drives an older silver truck. About 6 foot, short red hair and beard.

Wish I would have taken picks before I closed it up but we came in about a foot under the 4" pipe as it did not have proper 1/4" per foot drop.

Finished the day up cleaning out all the dirt from the kitchen bath area. Of course I had to shovel it to the door where the wheelbarrow was cause that stuffs heavy. No idea where the pics went but they were previously posted.

Then loaded a countless number of wheelbarrows of washed stone in, in preparation for the moisture barrier. Okay I stopped counting at 30. 🤣

UUUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

A day and a half of cutting and polishing just to have the last piece snap on install.

Pretty sure I could bite through a nail right now.

Three week. Three freaking weeks it took to track down these pieces. Grrrrrrr!

And this is why I do not install doors, windows or siding before running drain trenches next to the house.

Ive ran machines for over 30 year and still mistakes happen.

Was back filing the drive and left my boom down.

To bad it wasnt one foot over. It would have been nice if it had hit the window bay. 🤣

Oh well, I'll fix it and move on tomorrow.

Made some progress with my little Tonka Toy.

Yesterday, I got the house septic line, the outer building spetic line and the two long sides of the outer building dug up and trenched for perforated drain tile and downspout ports.

Today, I got the septic line to the house replaced with 4" PVC. Which was cast iron to clay tile with two crushed tiles. It was a little more challenging then I thought it would be but it's done and back-filled.

Tomorrow, I'll tackle the outer building inside drain and septic output. Maybe even get the rest of the trenching done.

Then me and my trusty wheelbarrow will take on 15 yard of washed stone. Tune in to see who wins the battle. 🤣

The bugs are awake and so are we. Yay.
